John Rhodes
President and Co-Founder
John Rhodes started his imaging career early in life by looking through a 35 mm camera. The camera, handed down by his father, proved to be a little challenging for an 8-year-old, and was soon replaced with a Kodak Instamatic and later a Polaroid. By the time he entered high school, it was time for a camera with more advanced capabilities. John became the yearbook photographer and was known as “The Minolta Man”.
In 1974, John began his first job working at a photo lab. He attended The University of Georgia, completing his degree in Business Administration in Marketing. John photographed weddings and worked at the same photo lab throughout college.
After a number of years in the photographic printing industry, John knew he wanted to own his own photo lab one day. He secured a job with Meisel, one of the largest photo labs in the country. John worked with them for almost four years, absorbing everything he could about the industry, technology, and large-scale operations. Armed with the experience he had gained with Meisel, he took the leap and began his own business.
John and his wife Betty founded Colorchrome together in 1983. What began as a small photo lab has developed into a large cutting-edge digital printing company. Colorchrome now services clients throughout the world, using the most innovative technologies to produce the highest quality images possible.
When John is not researching the latest printing techniques or overseeing Colorchrome’s production, you will find him involved in a variety of activities. He is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys fishing, scuba diving, boating, hunting, skiing, and hiking.
“I started Colorchrome in 1983 because I saw a need for exceptionally high quality photographic imagery that no one else was doing. I have a passion for quality in all aspects of Colorchrome and have worked hard to create a culture where we expect to be the best at everything we do. This drive to be the best goes beyond image quality; it also encompasses our customer service, our diverse array of products, and our commitment to meeting all of our clients’ needs, big or small. Thanks to our diverse and talented staff, as well as our new, larger, state-of-the-art production facility, I expect to continue to build upon this tradition of excellence for years to come.”
